Message from Midwifery Head

Training midwives for the mothers and children of Miyazaki

The role of midwives is to assist in regular childbirth, provide detail-oriented care during the pregnancy, postpartum, and puerperium periods, and offer consultation and support for breastfeeding and childcare amid increasingly sophisticated and complex obstetric care technologies. This is an extremely important role in order for the people of Miyazaki Prefecture to be able to give birth and raise their children with peace of mind.

Education in the Special Course in Midwifery aims to nurture high-quality, practical midwives who are professionals with close ties to the community. Furthermore, as part of the role of the Prefectural Nursing University, we are enhancing career education to meet the needs of continuing education.

Students completing the program have included graduates of the bachelor’s program, graduates of nursing training schools, and working adults with nursing qualifications. The vast majority of those completing the midwifery program have found employment within Miyazaki Prefecture. We are grateful for the warm guidance provided by the instructors at the base hospitals in the perinatal care network, clinics/hospitals, midwifery hospitals, and city halls in Miyazaki Prefecture which enable graduates to successfully complete their midwifery training.

We continue to consider effective practical training in collaboration with training facilities and the university while paying attention to maternal and child health and medical care in Miyazaki Prefecture.
